Since Fashion Week (I promise, at some point I WILL stop rehashing the preparation/events/aftermath from that week, but today is not that day), I tried to give my nails a bit of a rest. Everything became worn down, broken, and over stressed, my nails included. The bottle of Perfect Formula's Cubist has been sitting on my desk for weeks, staring at me with it's murky grey-ness, tempting me to give it a try.
In the bottle, it looks just as it does on the nails. At first, you think it's a mauve-tinged grey, but the shadows bring out unexpected deep brown tones. In a way, this color is how I wanted Chanel's Paradoxal to look. I didn't want any shimmer and I had hoped the grey-purpleness of the polish would be more apparent (unfortunately, I was deeply disappointed).
In regards to the formula (is it truly Perfect?), my manicure lasted a good five days without chipping. It barely took two coats to achieve complete opacity. I was impressed by the shade's ability to wow me, considering all the brands, formulas, and colors I've been exposed to. Cubist is dynamic and surprising - check it out, along with the other shades from Perfect Formula's Fall/Winter 2010 collection here.
