The Red Army Faction considered kidnapped designer Karl Lagerfeld during the 1970's. The Red Army Faction (RAF) is described as "one of post war West Germany's most active and prominent left wing groups". RAF targeted Lagerfeld due to his family's wealth and prominent fashion industry standing.

During the 1970's, Lagerfeld was associating with Anna Piaggi, and designing for Pierre Balmain and Jean Patou. It wasn't until 1982 that Karl moved to Chanel. RAF is suspected of killing over 30 people in the 1970's, and while Lagerfeld wasn't the groups only fashion target, sources failed to reveal why the plan never went into action.
Among Lagerfeld's latest projects is K Karl Lagerfeld, a collection of jeans and tees available in July 2007.
