Fashion Flash: Betsey Johnson Fall/Winter 2011 Accessories Preview

It's no secret that I've been a long-time fan of Betsey Johnson. From her silly cartwheels to rhinestone necklaces that spell "Ride Me", what's not to love? Naturally, when I was invited to view the fall accessories collection at the Gramercy Park Hotel, I accepted.

For Fall/Winter 2011, Betsey has a few surprises in store. It was nice to see all the accessories together, telling a cohesive story of glitter, bows, animal prints and embellishments. The collection ranges from footwear to jewelry, belts, eyewear (both sunglasses and optical), as well as scarves and handbags. If Betsey's collection is any indication, we'll continue to rock platform pumps, animal prints and oxfords well through fall.

Fashion Flash: Jennifer Lopez For Tous

Say what you will about Jennifer Lopez these days (ie, that she's over-exposed, her music is over-produced, etc), but she is working hard and making bank, especially from major campaigns like Venus, L'Oreal and now Tous. Tous replaced Australian pop diva Kylie Minogue as the face of the brand after two years with Lopez. Shot by famed photographer, Ellen Von Unwerth (who also shot Minogues campaigns), the campaign features a wide variety of Tous styles, including the iconic bear. "Jennifer is not just an amazingly beautiful woman, but also a talented actress, musician and dancer sharing with us strong family values as we are a family-owned business," said Salvador Tous, president of the company.

There's something so magical about spending the day shopping with a great friend. In SoHo, almost every brand you could possibly dream of is represented in one form or another and it seems as is the fashion world is at your fingertips. Strolling from boutique to boutique you become entranced by the new and the possibilities of the future. So much to wear....so little time. These are the treats I picked up along the way.

After weeks of window shopping - aka digital stalking - the Michael Kors rose gold watch finally seduced me. I admit it - I am powerless to resist the lure of these stunning watches. They've been gracing the wrists of the stylish for seasons now, but it was finally the rose gold style that made me weak in the knees.

if you're as seduced by the Michael Kors watches as I am, I highly recommend visiting a retailer to view the full collection in person. There are so many face sizes, band choices and even dial differences that it can make choosing between models very difficult. I purchased the style above only yesterday from Lord & Taylor, where the band choices alone were staggering.

What I love most about the style that I chose was that it works well with me proportionally. It's not too large or too small, and will remain a classic for seasons to come. In recent months there has definitely been a resurgence in timepieces - have you made any watch purchases? I'd love to hear about what pieces have made you weak in the knees.

Call me crazy, but I've always been inspired by ladies who are brave enough to wear mismatched earrings. When it works - it really works and there's no formula for recreating the look. It's one of those mystical, magical style intersections that just happens.

Atelier Minyon just released this gorgeous rock-infused video, further adding dimension to a brand already so rich in heritage. If you're not familiar, Atelier Minyon is a Turkish jewelry brand designed by Alp Sagnak - you might have walked past their flagship location in SoHo at 155 Spring Street where Alp frequently designs and creates right in the storefront.

I'm not sure whether it's my equestrian past from Arkansas that's subconsciously sneaking up on me or I'm feeling the need for an extra bit of luck, but I can't get the thought of a darling pair of horseshoe stud earrings out of my mind.

The instant I saw these Gorjana Horseshoe Studs, I instantly knew they belonged on my ears. With brushed 18k gold, these studs are 1/2" an inch wide, which just happens to be just about the perfect size for a pair of studs.

Superstition says that you should always keep the ends of a horseshoe pointed up so your luck doesn't run out - keep those ends up, ladies!

Would You Wear It? Shoulder Jewelry

Studs, spikes, feathers and chains are popping up everywhere in jewelry these days. From earrings to necklaces, on cuffs and rings, jewelry designers are feeling a bit more rock & roll than sweet & prim. I personally love my jewelry to be loud, bold and with a little edge.

If you pop into any store, mass or boutique, you'll see tops with ornate details on the shoulders (even Forever 21 has them). A brand called Babette Epaulette has taken the detailed shoulder to the next level by creating jewelry specifically designed to be worn on your shoulder.

While I love the idea in theory, I'm not sure the cross-body style would be flattering on anyone other than a twig. The pieces are beautiful and definitely make a statement - but, what I want to know is:
