One of the greatest aspects of fashion is it's ability to intersect seamlessly with other art forms.  Richie Rich, half of the design duo behind Heatherette - has taken his party people attitude and network of famous friends to organize one heck of a fashion/party/glam dance album. In fact, Richie actually sings the lead single, "Celebutante".  If you can listen without busting out a few dance moves, you should have your groove checked.

Style IT has a secret - We were at the Heatherette/MAC Press Preview with many of our blogging friends - and we've had to keep quiet! We couldn't be more happy to finally be able to share our wonderful experience with all of you.

A big thank you to the MAC team who put together a fantastic press preview with Richie, Traver, Senor Vice President/Creative Director of MAC Worldwide Jame Gager and Senior Vice President Product Development of MAC Worldwide Jennifer Balbier. It was inspiring to hear each of them speak so passionately about the process of creating this collaboration.

Richie Rich and Traver Rains, the dynamic duo behind Heatherette must be Geminis. Their latest collaboration with MAC plays off the duality within all of us. Heatherette’s image as glittery 24 hour party people may cause the more timid to overlook this collection, but don’t be fooled. Designed for the good girl by day and the bad girl by night, the collaboration brings a collection of highly covetable limited edition products. A majority of the colors are surprisingly wearable. The most ostentatious part of the collection is the screaming “look at me” pink and holographic silver packaging.

Richie and Traver were contributing forces in the creation of this collection. “The boys gathered everything from fabric swatches to paper pieces of colours to particles of glitter” said Jennifer Balbier, Senior Vice President of Product Development. Their creativity sparked the MAC team to debut two brand new products in the collection. The Dual-Edge Eye Pencil, featuring one end of highly pigmented color and the other glitter, and two eyeshadow trios, are both a first for MAC.

The eyeshadow trios make it easy for the gal with little eye makeup experience. The trios are a self explanatory kit to a smokey eye. Trio 1 features Mood Ring (Mint Green), Cloud Burst (Black with green pearl), and Hoppin’ (pastel peach). Trio 2 coordinates Baby Petals (Pastel Pink), V.I.P. (Yellow Pink) and Cassette (Eggplant Purple). The Dual-Edge Eye Pencils in Black Funk/Pop Blue, Phone Me/Text Me, Nighthawk/Front Row, and FAB Orchid/Dash Lily play on the Good Girl/Bad Girl theme. Speaking of Good Girl/Bad Girl, MAC created two exclusive lash sets titled She’s Good & She’s Bad, both in a high shine patent finish.

The color selection found in the quartet of lipglasses and lipsticks shows the careful planning that went into the collaboration. Lipsticks in Lollipop Loving (glaze), Fleshpot (satin), Hollywood Nights (satin) and Melrose Mood (amplified) perfectly coordinate with the lipglasses in Sock Hop (cream), Bonus Beat (frost), Starlet Kiss (frost) and Style Minx (frost). When used together, a lipglass and lipstick can create an intense glossy lip, but when used without, the lipglass is perfect for the sheer good girl in you.

No collection geared toward the ultimate makeup lover could be complete without beauty powders. Alpha Girl, described as pink with gold nuances, is a darling peachy-pink. Smooth Harmony, described as a medium golden bronze, may initially appear intimidating, but with a light hand it’s adaptable to even the fairest skinned.

Makeup lovers, good girls and bad girls alike will covet pieces from this collection. Just like Heatherette’s initial collaboration, a namesake limited edition lipstick, this collection will live on long after the products have sold out. Recently, we were fortunate (and when we say fortunate, we MEAN fortunate) to attend the Heatherette for MAC press preview. We joined fellow members of online media in addition to traditional press outlets for an exclusive sneak peek at the full collection. Our "dirty little secret" was short lived as someone had the audacity to ebay the full collection and then some.

While rumors are being whispered about the dirty deed doer being a member of the blogsophere, we're not convinced. We were not the only people in attendance, and we feel confident in saying that the bloggers we interacted with were grateful, sincere, and far too excited to be releasing any of the collection from their clutches.

We understand that collections are leaked all the time, however we feel personally disappointed as we are still awestruck by the experience and generosity the MAC team bestowed upon us that night. Out of respect, we will not be posting any images until March 24 when we will bring you an in-depth review.

Whoever you are, shame, shame, shame on you! Your greedy fingers are making us all look bad.

While you may be bummed out you're not attending New York Fashion Week, you can find comfort in the fact that you're not one of the half starved fashionistas towering in heels too high and loaded full of caffeine. The truth of the matter is, these days if you don't need to be at Fashion Week it's not worth the hassle. Don't get us wrong, Fashion Week is well deserving of the hype, and if you can attend we highly recommend it.

With most big names already showing off site (Marc Jacobs, Calvin Klein, Proenza Schouler), it appears that Diane Von Furstenberg may be the only big show worth attending in Bryant Park. A rep for Oscar de la Renta has confirmed his Spring 2008 show will be held at 583 Park Avenue, the same location as his last resort collection.

IMG's efforts to move Fashion Week away from the tents at Bryant Park to a more permanent location have seemingly stalled, with the shows returning again for the "second last time". The largest tent cannot accommodate the mass spectacle that comes with major design houses such as Marc Jacobs, and cannot provide the luxury generally associated with houses such as De La Renta. Since when have port-a-potties been glamorous?

To further complicate the issue, IMG has entered sponsorship overload by agreeing to a MetLife sponsored/Peanuts inspired fashion show, complete with big name participants designing Snoopy couture. We understand sponsorhip and advertising are part of the fashion wheel, however we have reached saturation. From large Mercedes vehicles parked where there once were chairs, to luxury developments in Arizona, what do these have with fashion and/or the comfort level of those attending the shows?

In all honesty, we feel as if the fashion machine is beyond caring about the consumer, the press or any avenue by which profits were traditionally made. While some designers may still wish to keep their integrity in tact, IMG & 7th On 6th have partnered up to whore themselves out to the highest bidder.  Look forward to more UPS brownies, Peroni beer, WE network lime green purses and weight loss pills, because it appears the circus is here to stay.
