A recent MainStreet.com article reports on "The High Cost of Being Lauren Conrad". No offense to the author, Juliana Bunim, but it doesn't take a rocket scientist to see that being a woman in the public eye costs money. Heck, being a style conscious woman of any sort is costly. The article points out her beauty, wardrobe, transportation, shelter, and endorsement deals, not to mention her salary for her role on The Hills.
Being someone who works in the big machine we know as fashion, I am privy to the access these types of celebrities can obtain. Her cosmetics deal with mark should afford her any product the line offers, and her handbags and clothing should come from her eponymous lines (a fatal mistake Jennifer Lopez made with her Sweetface line). A well placed phone call by an assistant/publicist should have clothing and jewelry pouring in for the reality star to photographed in. Additionally MTV using her home as a set should be some sort of tax write-off, if she even paid for the home at all. Not to mention Conrad charges fees for her appearances at restaurants, nightclubs and the like.
In fact, I would wager that it costs more for me to maintain my look than it does for Conrad to maintain hers, on a sliding scale of course. Offset for the major difference in our incomes and lifestyles, and I would wager that being Lauren Conrad isn't all that expensive. If I'm walking around in free jeans, you know she has to be.

European readers - count your blessings. On September 23, the Dita Von Teese X Wonderbra collection will become available. We've received first look images, and the collection is stunning! We hope these are enough to tide you over until the launch. Wonderbra has also promised a video to debut September 15 - can't wait!
I am very proud of the lingerie that I’ve created for Wonderbra, because it has all the beautiful detail of sexy, sensual and glamorous lingerie, but the fit is perfect to wear under your everyday clothes. I love it when you can go about your daily business with the knowledge that you have a little secret of your own on underneath. Lingerie shouldn’t be something you just put on for your lover; you should do it for you. It’s not about seducing men, it’s about embracing womanhood.
The collection includes three distinct styles:
- Multi-Teese a provocative, multi-talented set in black which allows the wearer to arrange the straps a multitude of ways, this range features a unique quick-release magnetic closure on both the bra and the bottom, making daring stripteases a cinch
- Spot-Teese a fun and flirty range featuring a casino chip motif in caramel, overlaid with a sexy sheer black tulle and accented with a floral detail that can decorate the bra or brief
- Satin-Teese is a return to classic elegance and retro glamour that comes in two colours; soft peach and dove grey, and offers the 50’s top wire design

Reports are circulating that Mary-Kate Olsen is rapidly running through her money, even though the star brings in an reported $40 million annually. As a noted style icon and fashion consumer, it's no surprise that a large contributor to her woes are her clothing and jewelry habits. I can't blame her for coveting the latest styles, and if I had a large sum of cash I'd throw it at the latest designer goods as well. Any financial queries aside, Mary-Kate pulls off a stellar editorial in September's issue of Elle UK. View the full spread in the gallery below.

Poor Keira Knightley - she can perform well in a period piece, but she can't seem to take a decent Vogue cover. Of the three, which do you prefer, if any?

Christina Ricci has been a long standing favorite subject of Style IT's, from her "embarrassing" cover of W where she was ashamed she wore fur, to her stunning spread in Italian Vogue she's always been the subject of interesting photos. We're really impressed to see how she has come into her own as a woman and matured in her fashion.
Check out the actress' appearance in a recent issue of Hollywood Life magazine.

Kate Moss classes it up in American Vogue’s August 2008 issue. I’m already feeling the urge to wear trench coats, pointy toe pumps and darker lipstick while inside my house. Once outside, I want to strip down, wear head scarves and complain about the heat. I’m proud to see that stylists are starting to dress Kate Moss age appropriately instead of tarting her up. It’s time we fully embrace our true age, don’t you think?

Victoria Beckham may be called many things, but stupid she isn’t. Obviously the gal has media savvy and a pretty decent head on her shoulders (or at least a good stylist). Her softness will stun and amaze as you browse the photos of her in Allure magazine’s August 2008 issue.

Over at Coutorture, we recently posted former Mooka Kinney designer Rachel Antonoff’s latest lookbook, which just happened to have actresses Scarlett Johansson and Alia Shawkat. To make a long story short, I just received the strangest email. Apparently some spammer in Germany wanted to alert me that Scarlett Johansson is actually a clone of another human being, and the FBI might become involved. I hope this brings a smile to your Friday.
Hello dear Ms. [redacted]!
I would like inform you that Scarlett Johansson (actress) actually is a clone from original person, who has nothing with acting career. That clone was created illegally by using stolen biological material. Original person is very nice (not d**n sexy), most important - CHRISTIAN young lady!
I’ll tell you guys more, that clones (it’s not only one) made in GERMANY - world leader manufacturer of humans clones, it is in Ludwigshafen am Rhein, North Bavaria, Mr. Helmut Kohl home town. You can not even imaging the scale of the cloning activity. But warning! Helmut Kohl clone staff 100% controlling all their clones spreading around the world, they are very accurate with that, some of them are still NAZI type disciplined and mind controlled clones, so be careful get close with clones you will be controlled as well. Think wise..
Apparently those clones are very actively shown on your website. This is just a warning, because original person is not happy about those images and video, rumors and etc., in that way it would be really nice if you try slow down that ”actress” career development on your magazine, original Scarlett’s parents will really appreciated that. Please do that, do not wait until FBI agent give you a call with questions. Please remember that original family did not authorize any activity with stolen biological materials, no matter what form it was created, it all need to be return back to original family control to Cedars-Sinai Medical Center in Los Angeles. If you ignore warning after this message, there can happen law suit..
Original Scarlett is not engage!
Her close friend Serg G.
P.S.
H.R. 534, the Human Cloning Prohibition Act of 2003, was introduced to the U.S. House of Representatives on February 5, 2003. After discussion, it was passed on February 27 by a vote of 241-155. It now moves on to the Senate for consideration. This bill makes it unlawful for any person or entity to perform or participate in human cloning, or to ship or receive embryos produced by human cloning. The penalties are imprisonment of up to 10 years and fines of $1 million or more.
These now join other nations as diverse as Norway, Australia, and Germany, which had already added cloning for any purpose to their criminal code. And in Germany where it carries a penalty of five years imprisonment they know a thing or two about unethical science.

Honestly, this episode of The Hills was pretty much boring. However, the entire cast kept their mouths open like 2 for 1 flytraps at Wal-Mart. There’s a power struggle amongst the cast, all clawing and clamoring for the top money spot next to LC. It’s become pretty obvious in interviews over the past couple of weeks that being in LC’s posse is all about the big bucks. With Stephanie Pratt’s many pathetic faces of guilt, could she be next to rise to the top?
