“Eye shadow is about shading. Rather than adding shadows, these muted tones contour and define, accentuating the eye and the pupil; the focus is actually on the eye itself. My favorite is the Greige and charcoal duo shade palette, but the pale lilac grey and fuchsia offer a really beautiful pop of color.”
Application Tips:
1. Use the Greige shade to contour the eye by sweeping the shadow along the crease of the eye. Follow by sweeping the shade under the lower lash line and over the upper lash line. Use charcoal to add intensity.
2. A second option is to sweet the charcoal shadow over the whole lid and use the Greige to blend. For added intensity, apply midnight blue eyeliner along the upper lid lash line.
Manta Ray Eye Duo Palettes
Inspired by the precious and luxurious materials used in Giorgio Armani fashion accessories, the palettes offer a beautiful selection of color harmonies inspired by nature which is dressed with an exotic Manta Ray pattern. The colors are:
* n° 1 – charcoal and Greige: the ultimate eye shadow combination for this season’s smoky eye
* n° 2 – deep ocean blue and intense ocean green
* n° 3 – pale lilac grey and luminous fuchsia
* n° 4 – light blue stone and sandy beige
* n° 5 – shimmering lilac pearl and pale green pearl
Liquid Silk Eye Liner n° 1 and n° 2
Liners in matte charcoal grey or midnight metallic blue contrast the softer Greige tones with a smooth high precision stroke. The formula, which contains microdispersed waxes and micro-fil™ polymer, boosts the deep intense color and ensures a long-lasting, quick-drying application.
Armani Silk Lipstick n° 92
The grey-blue tones in this soft plum lipstick add intensity to the lip without giving a dark contrast, the new alternative to beige. The Armani Silk lipstick formula dresses the lips with a hydrating and silky veil. Specific oils allow the shade to reveal intense and radiant color, resulting in a luminous blush on the lips.
Being half Italian, I can confidently say there are some things Italians do better. Meatballs (obviously), marinara sauce and bronzers. Call me crazy, but Giorgio Armani's bronzers might be the most luxe on the market.
To discuss the Sienna Minerals Bronzing Palette, you first need to lean back, close your eyes and imagine the Mediterranean sun on your face. Your vacation has given you the most glowing complexion imaginable. This palette is amazing on sunkissed skintones, extending the life of your vacation glow. The brown tones are the same shade as the bronzer in the Mediterranean palette mixed with a sunny golden yellow and an orange shimmer kissed with red pearl. For medium shades with yellow undertones, you might actually hear angles sing down as you open the compact.
For those more fair (like me), I recommend you check out the Mediterranean palette. The bronzer in the bottom pan may appear a rich cocoa brown. However for those lacking deeper pigmentation or the ability to visit the Italian Riviera, this shade actually provides a more natural looking tan than most orange based bronzers. The best part is that this shade does not require a heavy hand. A little goes a long way.
The top pan holds four eyeshadows: a light seafoam, a deep teal, a glittery gold and a rich brown. These aren't the most intensely pigmented shades (mostly because 3 of the 4 are more glitter based) however they do create dazzling looks that transport you pool side. They work well when paired with the bronze shades in the bronzer and are best used as a subtle wash of color on the lid.
All in all, if you're looking to treat yourself to an inexpensive Riviera vacation or a luxurious yet compact palette, I say give these a shot. Armani beauty has created a solid, wearable and flattering Summer collection you'll wish you could wear come August.

Since the weather was so dreary the morning the Tropical Storm landed in New York City, I decided to enhance the seriousness of my outfit with a serious beauty look.
The combination of MAC's Kirsch and Jampacked was a dark yet wearable look. I really enjoyed the plum color of Kirsch, but I faced a challenge in getting the color to distribute evenly which is why I paired it with Jampacked. Jampacked on it's own is a plummy-cherry color but it certainly doesn't pack the punch of Kirsch. They make a lovely pair. Both colors launched with the Cult of Cherry collection.
I love the eyeshadow quad in the NARS Bridal Palette. Each compliments the other in perfect harmony that is a pretty self explanatory tutorial on the smokey eye. I used the top two colors, Nepal and Ondine, to create a daytime smokey look which simply defined the eye area and added an air of mystery. For night I used Night Fever to amp up the purple in the crease and along my lash line. I couldn't have asked for a better selection of shadows.
For me, the NARS Bridal Palette fully delivers everything I need combined under one lid. The highlighting powder in Albatross helps with the mid-day touch up or the after evening date. The lip quad makes it easy to change lip colors and textures without straying too far from the color spectrum within in the palette. I for one cannot wear one lip color all day long - I have lip color add.
I really enjoyed this look and have worn it several times since then.
What colors are in your latest fail-proof discovery?
I've had plenty of time to become acquainted with Giorgio Armani Beauty's Fall 2008 Python Collection (a bit longer than I should have before writing about it) and I have to admit I am completely in love. COMPLETELY.
The limited edition Python Palette ($100) is certainly this collection's standout star. The intricate detailing of the eyeshadow palette intricately weaves three shades of taupe into a python pattern you have to see to believe. The two lip shades in the lower tier of the compact, a fuchsia-red and a mauve, look well on their own or mixed together (which is my personal preference). The best part of this palette is that it contains everything you need to take your look from day to night in packaging no bigger than a powder compact.
It's no secret to anyone who knows me that I have issues with blush. It never looks right on me, and I can never figure out exactly what shade I look best in. Cream blushes have always intimidated me in the worst possible way. I'm terrified of wearing too much blush, probably a fear accelerated by my mother's previous habit of wearing far too much. After biting the bullet and wiping my fingers over the Blending Blush Duo ($60) in 2, I instantly knew this product was different. Other cream blushes I have tried tend to be stiff, if not drying, to the touch. The Blending Blush Duo utilizes a Micro-Fil technology which causes the color to turn into liquid the second it touches the skin. I love to mix the two shades of 2 for the perfect dusty rose color that allows me to wear pink or nude based colors without a problem. For more nude/brown looks, 1 is perfect as the honey camel shade comes paired with a nude highlighter.
This was my first experience with Giorgio Armani Beauty, and I have to say I am a fan 100%. My previous knowledge of the line extended to legendary artist Pat McGrath's involvement and their well-reviewed foundation. The sticker on the bottom of the packaging says "Luxury Products", and I could not agree more. Pure luxury, all the way.
