Before I dip completely into Fashion Week mania, I wanted to share with you some selections from Avon's Fall 2009 color collection. For Fall, they have released a collection called Tribal Teals, centered around the mixing of deep smokey greys and rich navys flecked with a lighter teal. The general notion of clicking makes me think of The Wizard of Oz, however in relation to Avon's Spectra Lash Mascara, all I think of is "there's nothing like fuller lashes, there's nothing like fuller lashes".
It's no secret (and no surprise) that my outlook on eyelashes are the same as hair - the bigger the better & volume, volume, volume! I'd previously tried Avon's Spectra Color Lipstick, a new product that allows you to create 7 different lip shades via one tube at the twist of a dial. Spectra Lash works off a similar theory - by twisting the dial at the bottom of the tub, you can adjust the degree of volume of your lashes (full, fuller, fullest).
I won't even pretend that I didn't crank the dial on my tube to 3 and pull the wand. Fullest, forever and always! As you turn the dial from 1 to 3, you can feel the tension increase. To be honest, I am not exactly sure how this works, which is exactly why it has me intrigued! From my observations, it seems that the container the tube goes into is at it's largest at 1 and smallest at 3.
In terms of the formula, it is a wetter formula than L'Oreal's Voluminious, but not super slippery. It is what I like to call middle of the road in terms of the formula - not too wet but not too dry. What I appreciate about wetter formulas is that they allow you to build your lashes more over time as apposed to making a mad dash to your lashes with only a few seconds to spare.
I appreciate the volume the Avon Specktra Lash mascara gives me. It's not crazy "in your face" volume, but it a respectable daytime volume. To get to the point, I think this mascara is a great, every day option.

This past week, I had the pleasure of being able to preview Avon's late Summer & Fall fashion and accessory offerings. You may not think 'fashion' when you think Avon, but a few pieces just might surprise you (like the rosette slingbacks to the left). Over the years, my family has always ordered from Avon and I might be the lucky receipients of a few trinkets thrown in.
For Summer, there are great brightly colored tees and accessories, not to mention budget-friendly sandals. For Fall, I have my eye on a hooded scarf (that's right! a scarf that comes has a built in hood!), as well as great statement bejeweled necklaces.

There are the rare few moments where you have the presence and clarity to realize that your very being is being impacted. I had one such experience last week at the Avon/Suze Orman Tweetup.
Suze Orman's involvment with Avon might not make sense at first thought, but one of the subjects she is the most passionate about is women helping other women. Not only supporting one another, but taking care of themselves first and foremost. Speaking of, her own mother was an Avon represenative and she didn't know until she asked her advice on the Avon partnership.
Suze gave us so many gems of wisdom that it is difficult to remember them off the top of my head, but fortunately I tweeted as many of them as I possibly could during the nearly 3 hour session. Avon's new selection of lip products just make sense. They are practical & functional with a hint of fun, just like real women need.
My favorite new Avon lip product, launching in July, is the Pro 3-In-1 Lip Wand (pictured at left). Available in 10 shades for $9.50 each, the product has everything you need in one. Lip liner is coming back in a big way (who doesn't desire perfectly drawn lips), plus coordinating lip gloss and lipstick brings everything you need for your day perfectly packaged into one wand. Jillian Dempsey, Avon Global Creative Color Director (and wife of mega hottie Patrick Dempsey), helped design the coordinated shades with a satin finish. Her expert tip? Blend lipliner with a touch of gloss so you don't get a harsh line.
Are you the kind of girl that carries 5 different lip colors for one day? I've carried 11 lip products in one day - true story. Starting in June, you can combine 7 different shades of lipcolor into the same container. I don't know how Avon has done it, but it's pretty darn spiffy.
Merely turn the dial on the bottom of the package, and you can customize your lip shade from the two chambers of color contained inside the packaging by clicking from 1 through 7. Jillian recommends starting with the darkest shade, and dabbing the lightest shade in the center of your lips to create fuller lips. Don't you just love an optical illusion? Specktra Color Lipstick is available in 10 shades (x7 gives you 70 colors) for $9.50 starting this June.
