(Editor's note: The Binetti Spring 2011 presentation was, without a doubt, the most glorious collection of heavenly creations I have ever witnessed. Other shows have pomp, circumstance, entertainment, pumping music, celebrities, etc....but none of these things were necessary for designer Diego Binetti to showcase the gorgeous pieces of art he created for Spring 2011. The presentation space, The Box, was filled with people staring in awe - admittedly, I tried to stay in The Box as long as possible just so I could be near the clothes. If you take the time to revisit one collection from Mercedes Benz Fashion Week, please take a closer look at the work of Diego Binetti. Prepare yourself for chills!)
The Benetti Sprint 2011 Collection was by far one of the most beautiful collections I have ever seen. Extreme detail was paid to each look from the patterns down to the nails and styling. There was a mix of soft and feminine textures and shapes with glamourous metallics and intricate beadwork. Each piece had its own personality while still retaining cohesion with the rest of the collection.
Binetti used highly luxurious materials including: beaded crystals, silk with various weaving techniques and edges, metallic silk, chiffon, suede, ivory passementerie, german silver, wood mother of pearl and sequins. Overall, this collection blew my mind and gave Sarah and me fashion chills (see last picture).
Ps. The amazingly glamourous woman in the second to last picture is the incomparable Jan Arnold of CND.
