1. Who are your style heroes?
The women of the ’60s—Catherine Deneuve, Brigitte Bardot, Twiggy, Edie Sedgwick—and the icons of the ’70s like Bianca Jagger. Carine Roitfeld is my modern day style icon. Those are the people that truly blow me away.

2. What do you see as your contribution to Hollywood style? What is the “Rachel Zoe look”?
A revival of the late ’60s and ’70s. A very relaxed glamour. Taking the daintiness out of red carpet. Making it a little bit more edgy and fashion-y. Fighting for the unexpected versus the predictable in terms of glamour rules.

3. Give us a new look for Laura Bush. Where would you start?
When in doubt wear a Chanel suit. No one can misinterpret that.

4. What’s your favorite item of clothing right now?
My big, huge, oversized Stella McCartney sweater. I wear mine every day for traveling and work. They’re the greatest thing. I also love my Ralph Lauren gold-embroidered jacket and vest. And the Balenciaga boots I’m wearing right now.

5. What are you working on right now?
My next collaboration with Judith Leiber; consulting work with two luxury brand designers; finishing my book. And I have four or five clients that are promoting films right now so plenty of work there.
